Don't know if you've been to San Fran before so I'll just list stuff...

Also, Teeps can give you some good info too.

Eat at The Slanted Door in the Ferry Building...here's the website: http://www.slanteddoor.com/ It's incredibly good food, excellent staff. Sit at the bar for quick service and helpful bartenders. We went for lunch and it was very very good.

Shop in the Marina - Jackie found some dope stuff down there. I found a sick pair of jeans at Jack's down there too.

Also for shopping, if you're at all close by, check out Jeremy's: http://sanfrancisco.citysearch.com/review/880280 It's close to the new ballpark too. Great deals on awesome clothes (still in season).

Walk around Chinatown and North Beach for cool shops, cool little places to eat, and just an interesting scene overall. Jackie and I were there pretty often during our stay. North Beach has some nice restaurants too.

If you want some extreme kitsch, check out the Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar at the Fairmont Hotel. It's a former Rat Pack hang out...and the key word is "former." We went with Tommy, and were the only group there. It was funny though. They did the whole Rainforrest Cafe thing before anybody else.

Jackie and I walked nearly everywhere...it's out favorite mode of transport.

Every neighborhood is accessible by foot, but there are some big hills that are tough to climb up. We rode bikes across the Golden Gate into Sausalito - which was really cool. We walked up Telegraph Hill - which is kind of a hike, but well worth it.

Also, before I forget, make it over to Haight Street - because there is great shopping (in addition to its historical significance). We stayed in Union Square, and bussed it back from Haight Street. The bus system was really easy - though you'll find some interesting people ride the busses there. My favorite? The drunk guy who was drinking a wrapped up Sierra Nevada (of all the drinks to wrap up in a brown paper bag) and heckling a guy who got on the bus ["Hey man, I loved you Robocop II"].

AND, definitely make it to the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate park - it is too beautiful to pass up. The rest of the park is beautiful too - but the botanical area closes in the early evening, so plan your day accordingly. Here is a map of the park (it's a .pdf so it will take a sec to load): http://www.inetours.com/images/Maps/GGP_Map.pdf
