High brow much?

Tonight I saw the flick Art School Confidential with good friend Kara. We all know that the previews before the movie are arguably the best part of the show, and luckily we arrived at the Tivoli in time to catch them all. However, I was horribly disturbed after watching the trailer for Drawing Restraint. I may or may not have literally laughed out loud when I realized the girl in the movie was Bjork. Damn avant-garde art.

What a shock, Bjork being really weird. I might never have felt LESS interest in seeing a movie than right now.

How was ASC?

My interest was actually peaked by the trailer. Eventhough this looks mind boggling and weird for the sake of weird and inpenetrable (i read that there is virtually no dialogue in this film) and arrogant and pretentious, it is, ultimately, an art film. Art is all of the above sometimes, and sometimes its packaged in a cinematic media.

I pay money to go to museums all the time. I pay 8 dollars to walk around a building for 2 hours and look at some stuff on a wall that I don't understand, get confused, try and learn something, and most of all just to think, to have something that makes me experience a reaction. Why not pay 8 dollars to sit in a big dark room and do the same thing? If you approach it in this way maybe the film becomes more approachable as a work of art and not just a "movie."

It probably blows, but you'll never know if you don't keep an open mind...

valid point(s). but didn't the trailer give you the heebies?

ASC was entertaining and sometimes funny, but definitely not great. the usher told us to stick around for a deleted scene after the credits. we fools did just that, and the deleted scene was literally one milisecond long. also, there is a LOT of penis in the movie.
